Vaccinations and Wellness Exams

Dr. Doug Meade and the staff at Burlington Veterinary Hospital strongly believe in the concept of preventive medicine. Regular "wellness" examinations and vaccinations are extremely important for maintaining the health of your pet.

Due to the many recent discoveries and innovations in veterinary medicine, your pet can be protected from most major infectious diseases. Today, many vaccinations and preventive treatments are available that did not exist a decade ago. At Burlington Veterinary Hospital, we use the highest quality vaccines available to protect your pet from these diseases. We also have a reminder system that notifies you when your pet is due for any vaccinations or treatments.

The veterinarians and caring staff at Burlington Veterinary Hospital can help you decide what immunizations and preventive measures are necessary for your pet.

Medical Care

With our state-of-the-art equipment and our highly trained staff, we provide complete and individualized medical care for your pets.

Full Surgical Services

Our hospital is equipped to perform most surgical procedures from spays and neuters to complicated orthopedic procedures. We take pride in our new anesthesia equipment and our modern patient monitoring systems.

For more complicated surgical procedures, Dr. Joel Woolfson, a board certified veterinary surgeon, visits our hospital on a regular basis.

Dentistry and Preventive Teeth Cleaning

Animals (like people) need regular dental care. Gum disease causes pain, accounts for the loss of teeth, and can lead to serious generalized bacterial infections. Our wellness exams include a thorough examination of the interior of the mouth. Teeth cleaning (with our ultrasonic scalar) is an important step in preventing dental problems.

In House Laboratory Facilities

Our extensive in-house laboratory provides information that is critical to the sick or injured pet. With immediate results, sick and injured animals can begin appropriate treatment just a short time after examination. We also provide preanesthesia blood
testing. This testing minimizes the risks associated with surgery.

Boarding

Unfortunately, due to our physical limitations, we do not board dogs. We do, however, have a nice bright feline boarding facility.

During the holiday season, advanced reservations are often required for cat boarding.

Radiology

We have a complete radiographic facility for taking and developing X-rays.

Verruca-Freeze

A cryosurgical approach to small growth/cyst removal without the need for anesthesia, Verruca-Freeze is a quick and simple procedure that limits the need for scalpel surgery in the case of pets with warts, skin tags and other superficial benign skin lesions.

Pharmacy

We stock an extensive drug inventory. This is extremely convenient to our clients, as medications can be dispensed before leaving the clinic.

Slentrol

This is a new product for canine obesity that is available in our pharmacy. Slentrol is the first prescription weight-loss medication designed specifically for dogs. It reduces appetite and fat absorption to encourage weight loss. Slentrol should be used as part of an overall weight-management program. Your veterinarian can determine whether Slentrol is right for your dog and a treatment program will be set up.

Patient Records

All pets registered in the clinic have their own individual medical record. All treatments and vaccinations are recorded, giving a complete medical history of your pet.
